Absolute Aesthetics: A Harmonious Blend of Art and Living

Designer Ting Hao Juan Crafts a Poetic Living Space

The challenge of transforming a blank canvas into a warm, inviting home for a family of four was met with creative ingenuity by designer Ting Hao Juan. The Absolute Aesthetics project stands out for its unique approach to the living room, breaking away from traditional layouts. The central positioning of a low, two-tone fabric sofa forms a 'double living room' concept, offering distinct social areas that maintain visual connectivity without compromising individual space. This design choice fosters interaction while respecting personal boundaries, ideal for the entrepreneurial couple residing there.

Warm imagery is central to the design's ethos, with the use of Hermes' signature warm orange color creating a dignified and unique atmosphere that enhances the beauty of the displayed artworks. The design team's meticulous selection of materials, including rust antique-like marble and solid wood veneer, adds a tactile richness to the space. The strategic use of iron and glass materials in the cabinetry introduces a modern, industrial edge, while the large color blocks and grilles exude elegance and warmth.

Spanning 247.9 square meters, the apartment's layout includes three bedrooms, two living rooms, and a dining room. The design leverages the newness of the space, incorporating a double living room and a semi-open kitchen that can be closed off when necessary. The dining table's orientation and the 3.2-meter bar enhance the flow of the space, while sliding glass doors in the private areas maximize natural light.

The open-plan social area is designed to cater to the needs of guests, with a 3.2-meter-long bar and glass sliding doors that provide a seamless and comfortable experience. Artworks are strategically placed throughout the residence, with the design team carefully considering lighting, ventilation, and color to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional environment.

Completing the project in December 2022 in Taiwan, the design team conducted extensive research to ensure the space not only met the family's needs but also reflected their character and aesthetic preferences. The use of Hermes orange as the main visual, complemented by wood veneer and meticulous detailing, expresses the owner's taste and elevates the living space into a realm where daily rituals become artful experiences.

Despite budget constraints and the challenge of capturing the client's abstract concept of warmth, the design team succeeded in delivering a customized solution that balances high-quality design with cost-efficiency. The result is a residence that embodies the perfect blend of art and life, reminiscent of a poetic painting, where every detail contributes to the soulful essence of home.

The Absolute Aesthetics project by Ting Hao Juan has been recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award category for 2024. This prestigious accolade celebrates the project's exceptional design that combines art, science, and technology, contributing to an improved quality of life and making the world a more beautiful place.
